Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab

This was a heated discussion forum, which later attracted the attention of the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan. As a cultural experimental park, the art circle has had high hopes in the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab for a long time. However, being a division directly under the Ministry of Culture’s supervision, it also played a role in resource allocation and management, which also caused a lot of controversies. Located in the center of the capital, C-Lab has an uncertain future. With the outside world unable to clearly understand its development direction, this forum has unexpectedly become a catalyst.

Several architects contribute with their personal expertise, including past experience from participating in the planning of this site. They put forward personal questions and suggestions from the perspective of urban planning in policy and promotion, about the history, importance, and possibility of the cultural experiment park. As an artist, I offer reminders based on the historical experience of the failure of Huashan Arts and Culture District in the past. Although on the surface the site will appear to be a real cultural park in the future, nevertheless, looking at the conditions from various perspectives there are still many variables, whether these are changes in policies or personnel. The art circle should not offer blind support, but instead, continue to pay attention and monitor through actions.
